March Caramel Apple Cook Off

Over the weekend we held the first annual (and likely last) March caramel apple cook off.  Why not, right?

There were two categories.  Presentation, and of course, taste.

Lauren's apples started with a layer of caramel, then salt, dark chocolate, cookies and creme chocolate bar, milk chocolate, cinnamon.  To top them off, one had a layer of crushed shortbread cookies and the other pop rocks.

Both of mine were the same with a layer of caramel, then Reeses peanut butter, rolled in crushed Butterfinger candy bar, then milk chocolate and topped with Reeses Pieces.

The judges were kind.  Too kind actually as it was considered a tie.  But, there was a bit of leaning in Lauren's direction for presentation but also leaning in my direction for taste.

Star Valley Snow

Just a quick note.  We went up to Star Valley a couple of weekends ago.  It snowed the entire time.

If only snow like this could be had in Logan.  It was sad to come back to the ugly brown bare Cache Valley.

As a delayed Valentine's date, we attended a Utah Symphony concert
entitled The Magic of Harry Potter.

It was held at the beautiful Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City.

We enjoyed many "magical" pieces such as Dukas's The Sorcerer's Apprentice and Stravinsky's Firebird Suite.  And of course, many John William pieces from Harry Potter.
